ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF HOYT PARK
The Friends of Hoyt Park (FoHP) has been established to act as a partner to the Madison Parks Division assisting with the protection and preservation of Hoyt Park’s natural areas and historic structures. FoHP raises funds for the benefit of the park through membership dues and annual, or project specific, donation campaigns.
As a member of FoHP you will:
Receive advance mailings of all event/meeting announcements and newsletters.
Be eligible to vote at the annual meeting in the election of new FoHP board members.
Be eligible to serve as a volunteer on FoHP committees such as the Natural Areas or Membership Committee.
Show your commitment to maintain Hoyt Park as the gem that it is for all those who visit.
The Board of Directors of the Friends of Hoyt Park functions as the governing body for the members of FoHP; managing funds that are collected to benefit the park, serving as a liaison between the membership and the Madison Parks Division and organizing events to showcase the park to the Madison community.
The Board of Directors consists of 3-7 elected directors and up to 5 additional individuals appointed by and representing the neighborhoods surrounding Hoyt Park.
As an incorporated non-profit, The Friends of Hoyt Park works under a set of Bylaws last updated in 2006.
Board Meetings
The FoHP Board of Directors meets on the second Thursday of the month, 10 months per year. Please check our calendar for times and locations. These meetings are open to the public.
The History of The Friends of Hoyt Park
In 1995, Hoyt Park neighbors, concerned with the deteriorating condition of the Hoyt Park structures and natural areas, formed The Hoyt Park Citizens Advisory Committee tasked with raising awareness at the City level. This grassroots committee was incorporated as the non-profit Friends of Hoyt Park, Inc. in 1995.
